HISTORY
First Presbyterian Church of Crowley is a sacred architectural treasure within Acadiana.
TIMELINE
1890 Established on August 3, 1890, in the chapel of Acadia College located in the
Crowley House on North Parkerson Avenue, Crowley, LA.
1892 Incorporated in Acadia Parish.
1894 Wood-frame building at 321 East 4th Street, established on property purchased from Pat Crowley, founder of Crowley, LA.
1929 Current Building, Gothic architectural style, replaced wood-frame
Building at 321 East 4th Street, Crowley, LA.
1957 Addition of foyer, fellowship hall, kitchen, 2 modern restrooms, office and
mechanical room.

Hinners Pipe Organ, rebuilt for FPC of Crowley and still operational.

FOUNDERS
Rev. George Fraser, D.D. came from Kentucky to South Louisiana in 1888 as a supply preacher. He visited Crowley and other churches along the railroad to preach. He continued to return to Crowley and founded the First Presbyterian Church in 1890.
​
Elders and members of the church represented founding families of Crowley and early business leaders.
​
First Presbyterian Church of Crowley began with a smaller wooden building which was replaced in 1929 with the current church.
